During his illustrious career in the NFL, Steve Young led the San Francisco 49ers to excellence on the football field, being recognized with the high honor of NFL MVP and Super Bowl Champion. During the Salt Lake City 2002 Olympic Winter Games Steve Young led Team 2002 - made up of over 25,000 Olympic volunteers - to excellence in their activities as well. Steve Young excelled as Captain of Team 2002, but his volunteer involvement extends beyond his leadership during the Olympic Games. In 1993 he created the "Forever Young Foundation," a public charity dedicated to the development, security, strength, and education of children. He is involved in numerous other community events including the Children's Miracle Network and America's Freedom Festival. His genuine concern of the welfare of others and the success of communities proves Steve Young more than deserving of the Utah Governor's Points of Light Award. |
